SyncLib: Sync And Share Photos, Videos And Music Across Web, Windows & iOS


Cloud computing is probably one of the finest inventions of the internet.  It’s free, it’s fast and works everywhere. Although quite useful, most cloud services provide you with limited storage, where additional space or unlimited plans being the prerogative of paid accounts. So, if you have got stupendous amount of media stored in your PC and want to share it across all your devices, for instance, your Desktop, Notebook, iPhone or iPad, for free, then give SyncLib a try. It’s a sleek Windows media suite that aims to help you share your Videos, Music and Photos across all your devices. What’s more, you can even stream the media directly from the web. Unlike storing on cloud, it syncs your media files to all the aforementioned devices from your local storage, while giving you the freedom to have access to your media wherever you are, provided you have access to the internet. In addition, you may share your content with your Facebook and Twitter friends directly from within the application, along with an integrated chat functionality.

After installation, the application automatically launches itself to the login screen, where you need to input your Username or email and Password to get started. If you already don’t have a SyncLib account, you may create one instantly by clicking Create an account button.

The welcome screen presents you a bit of information regarding SyncLib, along with Add default folders and continue button, clicking which starts syncing your media files. You may however, click Skip at the bottom right to add the content later down the road.

Upon jumping to its main screen, the application might receive some immediate plaudits due to its elegant looking skin. All your photos, music and videos get enlisted under their respective sections, and you can navigate between them from the left panel that holds Home, Photos, Videos, Music, Folders, Friends, Chat and Add Media tabs. Syncing new media files is also easy as taking candy from a baby; you just need to click Add Media on the left panel, followed by selecting your source directory, and you’re all done.

The built-in photo viewer is a pleasure to navigate. It renders photos with stunning quality, and the story isn’t quite different for videos as well. It’s worth mentioning that you can play also play the added music files directly from within the application.

As all your media syncing is controlled by your user account, you may access your content by logging in to its web interface from SyncLib’s website. During testing, we were delighted to see that all our files were successfully synced to the server.

Along with its web interface and desktop client, the application also works like a charm on iPhone and iPad, with the Android variant currently under development. Akin to its web and Windows interface, iOS version looks and feels exactly the same.

To sum it up, SyncLib did leave us overly impressed. The uniform and enticing interface across all supported devices alone makes it a pleasure to use. The application is available for Windows and iOS, while its Android variant is coming soon. It was tested on Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit and iPad 2, iOS 5.1.1.
