Android has always fallen short of a better app management system when it comes to uninstalling apps. Also, many third-party launchers allow you a quick way of uninstalling apps from their icons, but what if you want to uninstall multiple apps in one go? Official 9GAG App For Android Now Available For Download

It’s been a long wait for humor-loving Android fans, but it’s finally over. The official 9GAG mobile app for Android has, much to Bad Luck Brian’s dismay, made its way to the Google Play Store. When the app debuted on the iOS App Store, we made no secret of our disappointment with what it had to offer then. It’s not that the app was bad; it’s just that as popular a brand as 9GAG is in the world of online humor, we were expecting a much more fluid experience from their long-awaited official client. However, it seems the app has come far since thanks to several improvements and UI changes spanning over subsequent updates. Thankfully, Android users get to use the new and improved version of the app from the get go. One less app for iOS users to brag about! A closer look at the Android app after the jump...

Your vacation-bought HDTV could soon lose manufacturer support in India

People returning home from vacations with multiple LCD televisions could be a common scene at the Indian airports. But electronic makers are taking steps to deter such imports, said a leading business daily..

MNCs like Sony, LG and Samsung have decided to limit their after-sales service for imported models that are estimated to account for nearly 20% of all TV sets in India. This could mean you could be forced to pay extra for the after-sales service for such imported TVs. "Such imported sets are disturbing the market equilibrium, sales plans and the total legitimate channel," said Sunil Nayyar, sales head, Sony India.

Micromax launches quad-core A110Q Canvas 2 Plus for Rs 12,100

Micromax has quietly launched a quad-core version of its ultrapopular A110 Canvas 2 smartphone. The A110Q Canvas 2 Plus is currently available through the company’s website for Rs 12,100...

The best part about the Canvas 2 Plus is that it runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which is just one peg below the latest version of the OS. The smartphone has a 5-inch display with a disappointing 854 x 480 resolution. We would have ideally liked to see a 720p display or at least a qHD one. In terms of processing power, the Q in the model number refers to the quad-core processor. Micromax has once again gone with MediaTek’s MT6589 chipset with each of the four cores clocked at 1.2GHz. The processor will benefit from 1GB of RAM.

Get iOS-Like Banner Notifications Anywhere On Android

iOS 5 introduced us to what has come to be known as ‘Banner Alerts’ – a simple yet effective feature for those times when you’re running a full-screen app or simply watching a video on your iOS device, and don’t want to miss out on your notifications. Android may have triumphed with it’s rich notification center from the start, but Banner Alerts is something we all could benefit from. In case you don’t want to wait for Google to implement the feature, Notification Popup Alert is a free app recently released on the Play Store that attempts to replicate the feature on your Android device. The app is still in a Beta state, and does not have a whole lot of customization options to offer for now. However, it does serve its purpose, so let’s take a detailed look at it after the jump...
The app is installed as an Accessibility service and will have to enabled it the Android’s Settings under Accessibility. You can navigate there straight from the app itself. Once the app is enabled, you’ll start receiving on-screen alerts for your notifications in form of a popup banner near the bottom edge of the screen. Tapping a notification makes it disappear, which lets you easily dismiss them after reading their content. In case of music notifications, you can control music playback right from the banner. The alerts look well-polished, and go well with the overall Android UI.

Remotely Control Mac Brightness, Volume & Media Apps From Android

There are quite a few apps available in the App Store that allow you to control your Mac. Likewise, there is an equivalent number of apps in the Mac App Store that allow you to control your iOS device. We have covered a fair number of both, but if your desktop computer is a Mac and your preferred phone runs Android, you might not find many apps to bridge this gap. Mac Remote is an Android app that lets you control iTunes, VLC player, iPhoto, Spotify, Quicktime, MPplayerX, and Preview on your Mac. You can also use it to put your Mac system to sleep, shut it down, and increase or decrease its brightness and volume levels. Mac Remote works over your Wi-Fi network and requires you to manually connect your Mac to the app. No Mac app is required in the process...
Before you can start controlling your Mac with your phone, you need to first set it up to connect with Mac Remote. The app gives you a brief tutorial on how to do just that. It’s simple, and requires you to enable Remote Login on your Mac...
Go to System Preferences>Sharing and enable the ‘Remote Login’ option from the ones listed on the left. Once turned on, it will give you an IP address with an IP number. Next you need to find out what your user name is. To do that, open Terminal; the first word in the address bar preceding the hyphen is your user name. That’s all the information you need...

We’ve all heard of live USBs that allow the user to boot right into an operating system on a PC without actually having to install it, a trend that has garnered limelight with Linux distributions. Keeping the need to casually test a Linux distro aside, you might find yourself in a situation where your PC’s current OS is failing to boot, you need a live disk to fix the issue or salvage your data, and your USB drive has everything in it but a live disk image. One solution would be to get your hands on another PC, but what if you could boot into a Linux distro (like Ubuntu or Fedora) straight from your rooted Android device?DriveDroid lets you do just that. What’s more, this nifty tool will download the distro of your choice straight to the device, ridding you of the need to have access to a second PC. We take a closer look at how DroidDrive works and what makes it so special after the jump...
Not all of us carry a Linux live USB drive or rescue disk around at all times. Mobile phones, on the other hand, are a constant for most. The ability to boot into an OS on your PC using your Android phone makes DriveDroid an excellent tool to be used as a rescue disk in case of emergencies. GO TouchHelper Is A Gorgeous Quick-Access Add-on For GO Launcher EX

Seldom does one come across an app so beautiful that you just want to keep staring at its UI, even if you have no use for it whatsoever. And needless to say, it’s even better when the app is useful and intuitive as well. The name of GO Dev Team is familiar to most Android users, and the guys have done it again! While the name GO TouchHelper may sound a bit misleading at first – I thought it was a touch calibration tool – you will see that it serves an entirely different purpose. According to the GO Launcher Dev Team, it’s a tool built to “Mix core features into all-in-one app”, and not only does it hold true to that purpose, but also does so while looking amazing! Acting like a dropdown menu containing frequently accessed settings and shortcuts, the app is a simple ‘two-finger downward swipe’ gesture away when using GO Launcher EX. So what exactly does it have to offer? Let’s find out!!!
Before you begin, you will need to have GO Launcher EX v3.29 or above installed for the app to work. Once the app is installed, you can access it from any GO Launcher home screen with a two-finger downward swipe anywhere below the status bar and above the dock. You may think for a moment that the app will be replicating Android’s notification drawer, but that is not the its purpose – well, not for now at least. Instead, it provides you with what you can consider an entirely different, beautifully crafted mini-launcher within the launcher.

Having been just released for Android, I feel the app’s UI needs to be slightly more user friendly for those who have just started with Asana. That said, the app brings almost all the Asana features you’ll require for collaboration on the go. We take a look at the app and how it functions after the break...

UNCOPT File Browser For Android Offers Holo UI, Dual-Pane View & Root Access

Dual-pane file managers for Android have been around for a while, and so have others that let you access root level system files. Both these elements offered in one single app for free however, is a rarity that UNCOPT File Browser aims to offer. To build on that, the app sports fantastic aesthetics with a dark Holo theme, along with the ability of browsing  the contents of compressed files like any other folder, support for plugins and much more. Let’s take a look at what makes UNCOPT File browser a worthy opponent to most Android file managers out there...
For system level/root access, a rooted device is required, obviously. Though the app will still work as a conventional file manager even if your device isn’t rooted.,,

Initially released in iTunes App Store and just recently made available to Android users, Pixplit is among the few cross-platform social photo sharing apps that actually justify their purpose of being truly ‘social’ and ‘interactive’. The app is built around the simple concept of social photo collage making, where a user starts a collage with a photo of their choice and then anyone from anywhere can contribute to the collage by adding images of their own. A typical Pixplit collage is referred to as a ‘split’, and comprises 2-4 empty slots that can be filled by that many different users.
