As great as the content shared on Reddit is, OC or otherwise, the one type of content I will always prefer over others is pictures. DIY projects, cats, kittens, huskies, landscapes, and anything that’s lol-worthy is what I click on 99% of the time. Reddit Vibrant is an Android app available in the Google Play Store for Redditors who prefer photo and video posts only. The app lets you sign in to your account, up/down vote whatever you want, and read and post comments. It’s a filter for image and video content for the front page and every single sub-reddit you are subscribed to...
You don’t have to log in to your Reddit account to use Reddit Vibrant so the app is suitable for lurkers and posters alike. By default, you see all photo and video posts on the front page. Bring up the navigation drawer and you can select one of the sub-reddits that you are subscribed to and view content from it. You can also sign in to your Reddit account from the navigation drawer. There’s also a search tab for searching sub-reddits.
Reddit Vibrant supports GIFs and Imgur albums. Tap the photo you want to see and the app will first load a low resolution image and then refine it somewhat. The app loads lower resolution images in case you are using your carrier’s network to browse and would not like to expend too much data. Slide up and the thread of comments on a picture will come into view. You can scroll through them. If you really like an image, you can save it to your account. Tap the more button in the image viewer to open a menu of options which include upvote, downvote, save to account, and more.
By default, any photo marked NSFW is hidden with a color and text overlay to indicate that it might not be appropriate. You can tap to view the image or, from the app’s home screen, tap the more button and disable the option completely (at your own risk). You can also sort what links you see on the front page or in any other sub-reddit from the ‘Sort’ button.
The app is ad free and well designed and that’s a combination that is rarely seen. The flow is pretty good and there isn’t anything left wanting unless you want to read some of the other, non-picture posts. In that case, you are going to have to go look for a different app but I personally think this one alone could have me up past mid-night.
Aw, this was an extremely nice post. Taking the time and actual effort to make a really good article… but
