Upload & Transfer Videos Across Cloud Services With Vilynx For Android

Just yesterday, we covered the official Android app of the photo aggregating, sharing and hosting service, OpenPhoto. The service caters to your online photo backup needs by aggregating images from your local storage as well as various social networks, and then uploads all of them to a cloud storage service of choice. If you feel that you need something similar for your videos as well, take a look atVilynx – a multilingual cross-platform video backup and sharing service capable of uploading to transferring videos between multiple cloud storage services. While the iOS and Kindle Fire variants of the app have been around for a while, the Android app has just recently been released. As of this writing, Vilynx for Android supports uploading to Dropbox, Box, Google Drive & YouTube, and lets you share these clips on two of the world’s most popular social networks, Facebook and Twitter. That’s not all – like its web and iOS variants, the official Android app of Vilynx generates multiple 5-second clips of each hosted video to provide you with a glimpse (summary) of the shared content...

In order to get started, you’ll have to log in to the app using your Vilynx account. Don’t have one? You can use the in-app registration option to signup for a new account for free. By default, Vilynx uses its dedicated cloud storage to host your videos. However, you can link your account on any supported cloud service with Vilynx to use it as your primary storage instead. Moreover, by linking two or more cloud accounts with Vilynx, you get the additional option to transfer video content between them.
Though a bit down in terms of aesthetics, the mobile app’s UI is pretty much reminiscent of its web variant where you get split-interface for your personal Vilynx video content, items shared with your friends, and a handful of sample videos hosted by the Vilynx service itself.
Under each tab, you’re presented with the thumbnail previews of all the shared stuff. Each thumbnail is made up of four tiny video preview windows, each depicting a 5 second preview of a select (random) segment of the entire clip right on the app’s home screen. Tapping the ellipsis (…) button under a thumbnail, you can preview an enlarged version of the video.
Pressing the play button once lets you instantly preview the video content contained within each of the four thumbnails, whereas long pressing the play button starts buffering and playing the entire clip in full-screen. Besides seeing the upload date of each clip, you can share it further via Facebook, Twitter or email along with a brief comment of up to 100 words.
The app’s menu button contains options to import local and cloud videos, record & upload new videos, check video uploads queue, and access the app’s settings screen from where you can manage all your cloud and social network accounts and specify the preferred network for the uploading tasks. You can choose to upload videos using WiFi only, if data usage costs are a concern to you.
Please be noted that, at present, Vilynx doesn’t aggregate videos from affiliated cloud storages, but rather lets you pick one or more as your default online video backup storage. Though the developer has plans for incorporating this feature soon in an update.
Vilynx is currently compatible with devices running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or later. The mobile app is available for free on both iTunes App Store and Google Play Store. Download links for all variants of Vilynx are provided below for your convenience.
