Get Screen Standby & Remote Control On Android When Connected To External Display

If you often connect your Android device to a TV or monitor, chances are you don’t want the device to keep its screen on throughout the time it’s connected to the external display. Mirroring the device’s display on a separate screen for watching a movie or playing a game nullifies the need for the device’s screen to stay on, as it drains the battery. Enter Screen Standby - the app that puts the screen of your rooted Android device to standby while the device remains fully active and continues it’s normal functioning. Screen Standby offers automated functions as well, including auto detection of attached screen(s) via USB, HDMI, Bluetooth etc. and activation upon launch of a defined app. You can even turn the device into a touchpad while the screen is off. If you want to remotely control another Android device, you can not only turn that device’s screen off, but also launch apps on it, control its volume and much more. More on the features of this app after the jump...

MessageMe: Cross-Platform Mobile Messenger With Great Sharing Options

WhatsApp is by far the most popular cross-platform online messaging app for mobile devices, but there are also other really good options such as Viber, Tango, Kik and many more that offer many other features in addition to text messages. Most people hate moving from their current messenger app to a new one, but there are times when the features offered by a new one are completely worth the switch. MessageMe might not emerge as a clear winner when you pit it against a few of the giants of this genre, but the new app does have a few really nice features that make it worth a try. Released simultaneously on iOS and Android, MessageMe lets you easily connect with your friends using a BBM-like PIN, or by just searching for contacts on social media. There is also group messaging, advanced media sharing (including support for doodling and push-to-talk) and a smart typing indicator...

Android has always fallen short of a better app management system when it comes to uninstalling apps. Also, many third-party launchers allow you a quick way of uninstalling apps from their icons, but what if you want to uninstall multiple apps in one go? Official 9GAG App For Android Now Available For Download

It’s been a long wait for humor-loving Android fans, but it’s finally over. The official 9GAG mobile app for Android has, much to Bad Luck Brian’s dismay, made its way to the Google Play Store. When the app debuted on the iOS App Store, we made no secret of our disappointment with what it had to offer then. It’s not that the app was bad; it’s just that as popular a brand as 9GAG is in the world of online humor, we were expecting a much more fluid experience from their long-awaited official client. However, it seems the app has come far since thanks to several improvements and UI changes spanning over subsequent updates. Thankfully, Android users get to use the new and improved version of the app from the get go. One less app for iOS users to brag about! A closer look at the Android app after the jump...
